Goryeo, Mongolia Union: Conquest of Japan

Goryeo(Korea) fought against Mongolia for 23 years.  Finally, King Wonjong of Goryeo went to Mongolia to declare his surrender. At that time, Kublai Khan and his brother Arikbuka were fighting a civil war to become a king. King Wonjong surrendered to Kublai Khan. Kublai Khan was very pleased and promoted extensively that the descendants of Goguryeo recognized him as the king of Mongolia. It proved that Kublai Khan was the right person to succeed to the throne.

If Attila ruled the West in the 5th century, it was no exaggeration to say that the 5th century East was ruled by King Gwanggaeto of Goguryeo. Goryeo means a descendant of Goguryeo and was called Korea by Arabian merchants. Kublai Khan was able to defeat his brother and ascend to the throne.  He thanked King Wonjong of Goryeo and signed a treaty in which the king of Goryeo and the princess of Mongolia married. From then on, the King of Mongolia and the King of Goryeo became related to his father-in-law.

Kublai Khan decides to occupy Japan using a powerful Goryeo navy. At that time, Goryeo ships traded to the Arabian Peninsula. The Goryeo-Mongolian Allies attacked Japan twice. During the first attack in 1274, the forces devastated Kyushu, Japan, but becauae of the typhoon, they returned after losing many ships and soldiers. During the second attack in 1281, thousands of ships were buried in the typhoon even before arriving in Japan. Japanese believed that God protected them. And he started calling the typhoon Kamikaze." (Kami means the God, kaze means the wind)

Time passed and it was toward the end of World War II. The Kamikaze commandos were formed. It was a suicide attack in which a bomb-laden plane rushed into the Allied fleet. In other words, it meant that the Japanese army would defeat the Allies with the help of God's wind. However, the Japanese empire was destroyed in 1945 after two atomic bomb attacks by the United States.
