Gyeongbokgung Palace was the palace where the king lived. It was built by Yi 이성계(Seong-gye) in 1395. Lee Seong-gye was the founder of the Joseon Dynasty.

경복궁(Gyeongbokgung Palace) was burned during the Imjin War(Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1592). The Imjin War was a war fought by Joseon and Ming against Japan. Toyotomi Hideyoshi tried to conquer Ming China after unifying the Japanese archipelago. He had asked Joseon to guide him on his way to Myeong and to mobilize troops for the war. Joseon rejected the offer because it was an ally of Ming. Japan invaded Joseon by mobilizing two million troops. Ming helped Joseon to defend Japanese aggression.

The Battle of Myeongnyang played the most important role in this war. Admiral Yi Sun-sin defeated 330 Japanese ships with 12 ships. Since then, Japan had difficulty in supplying and failed to conquer the Joseon Dynasty. Thanks to that Joseon and Ming China successfully defended Japanese aggression. When Toyotomi died, Japan withdrew its troops. The battle was also made into a movie. The name of the movie is The Admiral: Roaring Currents.

The Ming Dynasty, which consumed a lot of national power in this war, lost its power, and the Jurchen people in the north grew stronger. Joseon also failed to stop the growth of the Jurchen tribe. The Jurchen people destroyed the Ming Dynasty and established the Qing Dynasty in China. The Toyotomi Hideyoshi family in Japan was also destroyed by Tokugawa Iyeyas.

You can see Admiral Yi Sun-shin still guarding the Korean Peninsula. This is because he is still standing in 광화문 광장(Gwanghwamun Square) in front of Gyeongbokgung Palace. Gyeongbokgung Palace was rebuilt in 1867.

I would like to thank 'I should go to Korea' for helping me to correct this sentence.
